Branch is an insurtech company on a mission to make insurance more accessible through data, technology, and automation. The company has eliminated inaccurate quotes, created better bundling options, and reduced unnecessary costs in the traditional insurance process, passing savings to members.
You will join as VP, Finance, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a senior leadership role where you will lead three teams: financial planning and analysis, product finance, and business insights. You will be responsible for the company's planning process from start to finish, owning the long-term financial model and serving as a trusted partner to the CFO and executive team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting direction for FP&A, product finance, and business insights teams, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Running the annual plan and long-range financial model, including process design and timeline management
- Overseeing forecasting, budget tracking, and variance analysis across claims, production, and underwriting departments
- Presenting financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to executive and leadership teams
- Leading strategic finance work including business cases, unit economics, growth and pricing analysis, and scenario planning
- Overseeing business insights and establishing standards for reporting, metrics, and data quality
- Creating and rolling out company-wide planning and budgeting practices
- Identifying trends and risks that could affect plans and recommending early changes
- Partnering with Accounting, Actuarial, Product, Sales, Claims, and Data leaders
- Managing a team of 10, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and developing future leaders
- Improving planning and reporting tools and processes for scalability
- Preparing board materials, investor presentations, and shareholder reporting
- Providing oversight for regulatory, statutory, and compliance financial reporting
- Supporting CFO and executive leadership in fundraising efforts

REQUIREMENTS:
- 12+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related finance roles, including 5+ years leading managers
- Experience in a startup or fast-growing organization with ability to lead change management
- Proven track record owning planning and forecasting for a business in property & casualty insurance, insurtech, or other highly regulated environments
- Deep knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and unit economics
- Experience leading or working closely with a business intelligence or data team
- Ability to translate complex numbers into clear stories and recommendations for executives
- Strong judgment and ability to influence senior leaders
- Experience building, coaching, and growing teams of managers
- Comfortable working through ambiguity in a fast-growing company
- Advanced skills in Google Sheets, financial planning tools, and BI or reporting tools
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field (MBA a plus)
- Strong understanding of insurance financial metrics (loss ratios, expense ratios, combined ratios)
- Experience supporting board-level financial reporting, investor relations, and capital and treasury management
