Rebuy is a commerce intelligence platform powering personalized shopping experiences for fast-growing DTC brands including Tecovas, Momofuku, Dime Beauty, Liquid Death, Magic Spoon, and OLLY. As VP of Engineering, you will report directly to the CEO and own the entire engineering organization and technical delivery of rebuyengine.com, leading 4–6 person engineering pods with team captains and partnering with Product and executive leadership on roadmap and operational execution. Key responsibilities span delivery and execution, cross-functional leadership, team growth, strategic planning, and culture. On delivery, you'll establish reliable software release processes enabling frequent, low-risk deployments; implement rigorous QA, automated testing, and compliance practices (SOC 2, GDPR); hold teams accountable to sprint and quarterly commitments using metrics like cycle time and deployment frequency; and own all engineering KPIs including velocity, reliability, and defect density. You'll review and optimize the tech stack, assess critical failure points, and ensure all releases meet compliance and security requirements. Cross-functionally, you'll serve as the primary technical voice on the executive team, translating engineering realities into business terms and advocating for technical investments. You'll partner closely with Product to balance feature development, reliability work, and compliance; work with Sales, Customer Success, and Legal on enterprise security questionnaires and deal cycles; and manage engineering budget, headcount forecasts, and vendor contracts with Finance and People. On team growth, you'll own the full hiring lifecycle—defining leveling frameworks, compensation bands, and attracting senior talent—while building high-performing teams through mentorship, clear career ladders, and performance calibration. You'll scale thoughtfully, balancing headcount planning with team topology to minimize coordination overhead. Strategically, you'll translate company goals into multi-quarter engineering roadmaps with clear dependencies, define technical strategy including platform investments and build-vs-buy decisions, maintain realistic views of technical debt, and drive annual and quarterly planning cycles. You'll also design and improve engineering processes—code review standards, on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems—while championing a blameless culture where incidents are learning opportunities and quality is a shared responsibility.
