Daybreak Health is seeking a VP of Business Operations to own workforce management for their largest revenue channel. This is a general-manager-level role with direct accountability for clinician capacity, retention, utilization, and credentialing throughput—ultimately driving revenue and gross margin outcomes. You will build and run the systems that ensure sufficient clinician supply, maximize session volume, and maintain healthy unit economics while scaling rapidly. The role requires working across Clinical, Recruiting and Credentialing, Operations, Finance, Product, and Go-to-Market teams. You will manage stakeholders who do not report to you, present directly to executives, and have clear visibility into revenue and cost impact. Key responsibilities include: - Workforce management: clinician capacity planning, retention, utilization, and credentialing throughput - Gross margin and unit economics: translating workforce performance into financial impact and making tradeoffs visible - Performance analytics and root-cause analysis: investigating operational and financial data independently to identify performance drivers and solutions - Cross-functional performance management: turning data and forecasts into clear recommendations and priorities for partner teams - Clinical review operations: managing workflows, throughput, SLAs, and dependencies in partnership with Clinical leadership - Continuous optimization: improving access, utilization, retention, cost efficiency, margin, and scalability Success metrics include scaling the workforce 4x in the first 12 months, hitting core KPIs (clinicians hired/onboarded, slots available, sessions attended, clinical outcomes), meeting revenue and gross margin targets, planning capacity ahead to surface gaps early, supporting healthy clinician utilization and retention, surfacing performance problems in data before they become crises, automating manual workflows, earning partner team trust, and providing executives with clear program visibility. Daybreak Health is a Series B company backed by Union Square Ventures, Lightspeed, Maven Ventures, and Y Combinator. The company is building the leading digital mental health system for youth, providing virtual and onsite behavioral health care for K-12 school districts and health plans, with plans to serve over 25 million youth in five years. REQUIREMENTS: - Workforce or capacity planning experience: forecasting supply and demand, managing distributed or contract workforces, or scaling service delivery teams - Ownership of complex operational programs with direct accountability for measurable outcomes (revenue, gross margin, retention, utilization, cost) - Strong analytical fluency: investigating performance independently, spotting trends and root causes, turning data into action - Business and financial acumen: understanding how operational decisions impact revenue, unit economics, and gross margin - Ability to influence without authority: managing stakeholders who do not report to you and who may not align on timeline - Self-directed prioritization: owning a multi-workflow backlog and deciding what deserves attention when everything feels urgent - Track record of turning messy, one-off work into documented, repeatable systems - Proactive use of AI as an operational tool for analysis, automation, process improvement, and manual work reduction - Willingness to get hands-on: diving into dashboards, chasing individual cases, reconciling conflicting data, building lightweight fixes, testing processes - Strong executive communication: translating complicated operational findings into clear recommendations with tradeoffs spelled out Nice to have: - SQL, Google Apps Script, Looker or similar BI tools, workflow automation, or lightweight internal tool building - Experience in telehealth, behavioral health, K-12, health plan partnerships, or other operationally complex healthcare environments
