Peregrine Technologies, backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, is seeking a Virginia Business Development Lead to drive statewide expansion of its AI-enabled public safety platform. The company transforms siloed data into operational intelligence for public safety organizations, state and local governments, federal agencies, and private institutions, currently serving 125+ million people across 30+ states and two countries.
In this role, you will serve as Peregrine's primary interface to Virginia state and local government leaders, building high-leverage relationships and converting them into market opportunities. You'll identify and shape opportunities with major Virginia agencies (DPS, TDEM, TDCJ, DIR, and county/city governments), uncovering funding and deployment pathways that enable Peregrine's products to scale across the state.
Key responsibilities include: mapping Virginia's strategic priorities (public safety, emergency management, data modernization, AI governance) to Peregrine's solutions; turning policy developments, funding opportunities, and procurement routes into revenue-driving initiatives; developing compelling materials and leading high-leverage engagements (roundtables, executive briefings, workshops); managing external partners, advisors, and lobbyists; and working cross-functionally with Growth, Customer, Marketing, Communications, and Product teams.
Success is measured by expanding Peregrine's footprint across Virginia agencies, unlocking revenue through legislative funding and statewide initiatives, accelerating contracting timelines, and building deep trusted partnerships with Virginia leaders who view you as a strategic problem-solver.
You bring 7+ years of experience in government partnerships, public-sector business development, or state-level strategy within Virginia. You have an intimate understanding of public safety challenges and state/local government dynamics, proven ability to convert government priorities and policy windows into commercial opportunities, and strong relationships with Virginia state agencies. You excel at executive-level communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning, with an entrepreneurial mindset suited to fast-paced, mission-driven environments. You're skilled at translating complex technical concepts into digestible narratives for lawmakers and agency executives.
