Vensure Employer Solutions, the largest privately held HR technology and services organization, is seeking a Vice President of Data & Business Analytics – Commissions to own end-to-end execution of the monthly commissions cycle. This is a hands-on senior leadership role that combines deep technical and analytical execution with disciplined project management and active leadership of approximately nine specialists.
The role encompasses eight-figure monthly commission payouts across varied product lines and a broad ecosystem of technologies and data streams. Key responsibilities include:
**Monthly Commissions Cycle Ownership:**
- Maintain data hygiene across Salesforce, payroll platforms, CRM, and proprietary commission applications, ensuring accurate ARR calculations and commission payouts
- Manage the Sales Board, overseeing identification of new deal starts, ARR calculations, and uploads to Salesforce
- Oversee revenue audits and calculations from various product lines and service models with tight time constraints and external dependencies
- Execute monthly commission computations in payroll platforms, custom applications, and Power Query-supported Excel files
- Run audit cycles at start, 30-day, 90-day, 6-month, 9-month, and 1-year milestones
- Execute all QC steps including starts matching, file-input variance detection, duplicate detection, and month-over-month variance analysis
- Execute leader commission calculations, channel partner payouts, and journal entries across three categories
- Execute PTG amortization processes and estimate/accrual journal entries
**Team Leadership:**
- Lead, coach, and develop the commissions team of approximately nine specialists
- Own process ownership and cross-training to ensure business continuity
- Maintain end-to-end workflows, SOPs, and recording library for all processes
- Manage weekly and monthly cadences including standups, deliverable tracking, and performance conversations
**Cross-Functional Coordination:**
- Partner with Payroll, Sales leadership, Accounting and Finance, Data Engineering, HR, Legal, and external partners
- Coordinate on internal payroll deadlines, journal entry booking, Snowflake reports, and Salesforce integration
**Process Improvement:**
- Partner on continuous simplification and automation of commissions processes
- Surface improvement opportunities and contribute to the Improvements Delivered document
- Coordinate transition of new commission module into steady-state operation
**Systems in Scope:** Prism, VENCommissions.venture, Salesforce, Snowflake, ClientSpace, Intacct, and various payroll and billing platforms.
This role is not purely delegated; the leader is expected to execute significant work personally alongside team leadership, particularly on critical database work and complex calculations.
**Requirements:**
- CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
- PEO industry experience
- Sales compensation program experience, particularly with ARR-based, draw-against-commission, and channel-partner structures
- Salesforce administration or reporting experience
- Prior experience owning a monthly financial close or commissions cycle at similar scale
- Advanced Excel and Power Query skills with demonstrated ability to build complex conditional logic, dynamic date calculations, and M-language transformations
- SQL/database experience sufficient to partner on Snowflake report development and troubleshoot stored procedures
- Strong accounting foundation with fluency in ARR calculations, commission structures, revenue recognition principles, and accrual methodology
- Proven ability to manage high volume of interdependent deadlines (approximately 80 discrete deliverables monthly) with precision
- Track record of leading professional teams of six or more with comfort in hands-on execution
- Cross-functional communication skills with senior peers in Sales, Payroll, Finance, HR, and Legal
- High execution pace with accuracy; strong bias to action without sacrificing precision
- Independent problem-solving ability; comfortable operating without detailed playbooks
- Simplification instinct; converts complex multi-source data into clear, actionable outputs
- Sound judgment on materiality and when to escalate versus route through standard processes
- Assertive in driving deadlines with proactive communication on blockers and risks
- Discretion in handling compensation information and personnel data
