Oscar Health is seeking a Vice President of Insurance Product Development & Performance to lead product strategy, design, and management for the company's current and future insurance product portfolio. This is a leadership role that combines strategic vision with hands-on product management in the health insurance space.
In this position, you will define and execute the product development strategy for new and existing insurance products, ensuring alignment with Oscar's vision, growth objectives, and customer needs. You will build, mentor, and manage a high-performing end-to-end product team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include designing benefits that support financial and member goals while meeting technical and regulatory requirements; managing the complete product lifecycle from design through approval, marketing, performance monitoring, and maintenance; and governing the overall product portfolio in partnership with actuarial, market, and distribution leaders. You will establish deep market insights into shifting consumer needs and programmatically share relevant findings across the organization.
You will identify new opportunities through primary and secondary market research, analyzing internal and external customer data, and staying ahead of industry trends to deliver differentiated, sustainable, and scalable products. Collaboration is central to the role—you will work closely with Market Leaders, Actuarial, Sales, and technology teams to develop and refine products that meet customer demands and comply with regulatory requirements.
Additionally, you will oversee and optimize the insurance product portfolio, building a pipeline of potential concepts that advance through a disciplined stage-gate process. You will leverage customer insights, industry trends, UX/product design best practices, and data analytics to inform product decisions and ensure consumer-centric design. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and ensuring all products meet compliance standards is essential, including working with the regulatory affairs team to influence policy where needed.
The role requires monitoring product performance metrics and KPIs, adjusting strategy as needed to optimize profitability, customer satisfaction, retention, and market share.
Work Location: This position is based in Oscar's New York office with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are mandatory for team meetings and events; the other two office days are flexible.
Requirements:

- 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Experience across multiple insurance products
