Altana is an AI-powered platform that helps governments and businesses build resilient, secure global trade networks. As Vertical Technology Lead for Policy & National Security, you will own all technical outcomes for this strategic vertical, serving as the senior technical counterpart to commercial leadership. You will drive technical strategy across capture efforts, providing proposal content and technical volumes to support business development. You'll partner closely with the Head of Vertical to ensure solutions deliver on customer needs, bringing technical credibility to pitches and advising on product-market fit. You'll build and maintain relationships with key technology partners across the UK and allied national security ecosystem, translating customer needs into clear, cross-cutting product features that open pipeline. On the delivery side, you own solution architecture and technical delivery end-to-end, from scoping through deployment in both PaaS and SaaS environments. You'll hold the quality bar for performance, security, and maintainability, and lead day-to-day compliant operations in secured and regulated environments. You'll stand up and direct Implementation Delivery Managers on large accounts, staff based on complexity, and work closely with core Engineering, Product & Design to build solutions—whether configuring existing capabilities or driving last-mile product development where the platform doesn't yet meet mission requirements. You'll own customer support obligations and ensure deployments meet Altana's security, risk, and compliance standards, partnering with Platform Operations on regulated-environment engineering and accreditation. You'll also lead and grow the vertical's technical delivery team, owning hiring, staffing, and resource allocation across accounts. You'll concentrate technical talent where it matters most, develop people through hands-on responsibility, hold the technical quality bar, manage performance, and model technical excellence. You'll carry team culture and maintain operating rhythm and communication standards, with a commitment to meeting contractual obligations. This is a UK-based leadership role operating in the national security context, working with classified missions and secured environments, in close partnership with Platform Operations and core EPD. REQUIREMENTS: - 12+ years of technical experience spanning enterprise/solution architecture, deployment, and product development, including leading technical teams and complex, customer-facing deployments end-to-end - Deep public sector experience, ideally in defence, intelligence, or national security - Solution architecture depth across cloud (AWS or Azure), data engineering (Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks), complex system integrations (REST APIs, SSO/SAML), and containerized deployments (Kubernetes, Docker) - Track record partnering with commercial teams on pre-sales, capture, and expansion—turning customer outcomes into technical product specs and credible delivery paths - People-leadership experience: hiring, growing, and holding the bar for a team of technical delivery staff - UK-based with right to work in the United Kingdom; able to work on-site with customers as required - Hold, or be eligible and willing to obtain, UK Security Check (SC) clearance (existing SC or higher, e.g. DV, is a strong plus) - Experience leading complex technical programs for government, fluent in translating between mission language and technical language - Architect who has also run delivery; understands the difference between owning architecture and running programs - Experience handling sensitive and classified data in accredited, controlled environments - Leadership style that inspires, sets high bars, and grows people around you
