Signal 1 is a 30-person, well-funded startup helping health systems accelerate AI adoption. The company's flagship product, the AI Management System (AIMS), provides health system leaders with visibility and control over their AI portfolios—both predictive and generative—with built-in guardrails for responsible AI deployment. Signal 1 has strong product-market fit and is deployed across multiple top-20 US health systems.
You will join a small, hands-on Infrastructure Team as a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. In this role, you'll design, build, and operate Azure infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code principles. You'll own the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects—from architecture and deployment to production support and optimization. Key responsibilities include:
• Design and build Azure infrastructure using IaC tools, with a focus on security, compliance, and reliability.
• Build and maintain deployment pipelines that move code from commit through multiple environments to production.
• Shape system architecture across the full stack, from application layer to infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot production issues collaboratively with software engineers.
• Build full-stack internal tools that automate and accelerate the Infrastructure Team's work.
• Ensure platform security, compliance (including HIPAA and SOC 2), monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Own components and projects end-to-end, and drive improvements that benefit the whole team.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving startup where you'll have significant architectural influence and the opportunity to build systems that directly impact healthcare delivery.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Production experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Strong networking knowledge, including designing and building secure cloud networks.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting skills; ability to read and understand application code.
• Clear understanding of how modern software systems work end-to-end.
• Strong communication skills; ability to pick up context quickly, contribute to technical discussions, and explain complex topics clearly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Azure, Terragrunt, Istio, and Datadog.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS environments with data isolation per customer.
• Experience building full-stack internal tools (deployment, operations).
• Familiarity with HIPAA and SOC 2; experience handling protected health information (PHI).
• Experience deploying software into customer-managed or private network environments.
• Experience in small startup teams that build and ship fast.
