Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Vehicle Energy Systems Lead to own the energy subsystem for a maritime autonomous vehicle. This role reports to the Vehicle Systems Lead and is responsible for energy storage, distribution, regulation, and external charging from concept through production, with a focus on maximizing vehicle endurance and power reliability for ultra-long-range autonomous operation. Key responsibilities include architecting battery systems, power distribution, energy management, and charging interfaces. You will drive design and development of energy storage systems optimized for extended autonomous missions, manage power distribution and bus architecture across the vehicle, and own energy regulation systems ensuring safe and efficient power delivery. You will design external charging interfaces for rapid turnaround, manage energy budgets and power allocation across all consuming subsystems, and define electrical interfaces between the energy subsystem and other vehicle systems. Additional duties include managing subsystem schedule and cost performance across prototype, low-rate initial production (LRIP), and full-rate production (FRP) phases, providing technical mentorship to engineers across energy disciplines, driving design-for-manufacturability in coordination with production teams, and representing the energy subsystem in technical and customer meetings. You will interface with the Vehicle Systems Lead and Chief Engineer on critical technical decisions and travel up to 25% to test sites and customer locations. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or equivalent, plus 5+ years of experience in energy or power systems for marine, aerospace, or robotic systems. You must have demonstrated experience taking energy or power systems through full product development cycles, expertise with battery systems, power electronics, or energy management, and experience transitioning designs from prototype to production. U.S. Secret security clearance eligibility is required. Preferred qualifications include experience with large-format battery systems (lithium-ion or equivalent), working knowledge of high-voltage power systems in marine or defense applications, experience with power distribution for autonomous vehicles, familiarity with safety standards for energy storage systems, and background in defense or maritime robotics.
