Flock Safety is seeking a UAS Support Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between field operations and core engineering for their expanding fleet of autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems and docking infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring 24/7 mission-critical field reliability through deep hardware-software integration in real-world environments.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing and triaging complex fleet issues across multi-rotor airframes, radar systems, and radio communication infrastructure. You will interrogate post-flight telemetry using tools like Foxglove and Grafana to establish performance KPIs and real-time visibility dashboards. The role involves hands-on hardware bring-up and field validation of new docking hardware and drone airframes using industrial automation principles.
You will translate edge-case hardware failures and raw field data into actionable bug reports and design feedback for the engineering team, while developing and refining preventative inspection schedules, technical SOPs, and troubleshooting guides to scale global fleet capabilities.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep technical triage and telemetry analysis rather than core software development or firmware engineering. You will work at the Atlanta facility and deploy to client sites (up to 25% travel).
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or proven hands-on UAS/Robotics experience. You need 3+ years troubleshooting and maintaining Unmanned Aerial Systems, including multi-rotor flight hardware and autopilot firmware. Proficiency with hardware diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and telemetry/monitoring suites (Grafana, Foxglove) is essential. Deep familiarity with GPS, LTE, RF communications systems, and signal strength troubleshooting is required.
Nice-to-have qualifications include working knowledge of radar systems, Battery Management Systems (BMS), safe handling of Li-ion chemistries, and an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required upon hire).
