Valar Atomics is a Series A nuclear energy company developing advanced, scalable nuclear power systems for industrial, hydrogen, and manufacturing applications. The company is building a pilot plant in Utah to demonstrate next-generation nuclear technology and fuel fabrication. You will join the Power Conversion team within Engineering as a Turbomachinery Mechanical Designer, responsible for the mechanical design of static and rotating components in Valar's power generation turbomachinery systems. As an early hire in this discipline, you will have direct influence over system architecture and design decisions. Key responsibilities include: - Lead mechanical design of assigned turbomachinery components across the power conversion discipline - Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks, Creo, or NX, with advanced GD&T and tolerance analysis - Conduct required analyses to support design and procurement decisions - Own all aspects of bringing assigned components from design through testing to full-scale production - Select component materials balancing performance, lead time, and cost - Interface with internal teams and external machine shops to ensure designs are manufacturable - Work cross-functionally to define robust, high-efficiency, manufacturable designs This role offers significant technical ownership and the opportunity to shape critical power conversion technology for a mission-driven clean energy company at an early stage.
