The company is building a pilot plant in Utah to demonstrate factory-made, rapidly deployable nuclear technology. The Turbomachinery Aerodynamics Engineer will join the Power Conversion team within the Engineering organization. This team designs and develops the turbomachinery systems that efficiently convert reactor-generated heat into electrical power, focusing on maximizing performance, reliability, and commercial viability. As an early hire in the turbomachinery function, you will have significant influence over system architecture and design decisions. Your primary responsibilities include: • Conduct meanline and streamline aerodynamic analysis of turbomachinery designs • Perform 3D CFD simulations and analysis of turbomachinery components • Execute trade studies comparing turbomachinery configurations (stage count, shrouded vs. unshrouded designs, axial vs. radial configurations) • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop manufacturable, high-efficiency, robust designs You will work on cutting-edge turbomachinery for power generation in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where individual contributors have real autonomy and ownership over their work. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; hands-on experience analyzing turbomachinery systems (turbines, compressors, turbochargers, turboexpanders, blowers, turbopumps); demonstrated expertise with meanline and streamline analysis; proficiency with 3D CFD simulation tools.
