Boom Supersonic is developing Symphony, a jet engine purpose-built for sustainable supersonic flight. As Turbine Aerodynamics Lead, you will architect the hot section of the Symphony engine—from concept through certification—working alongside aircraft designers, systems leads, and test engineers. Key responsibilities include: • Lead development of the Symphony turbine system (high-pressure and low-pressure stages), owning performance and aerodynamic design • Design airfoils and flowpaths using CFD analysis to optimize turbine efficiency and performance • Develop 1D meanline models, design blading for airfoils, create performance maps, and specify/participate in rig tests • Assess as-built hardware and influence how turbine design affects the overall Overture aircraft and Symphony integrated propulsion system • Advocate for component rigs when necessary, analyze rig and engine test data, and recommend courses of action • Develop and integrate toolchains and processes, including multi-disciplinary workflows and automation that fully integrate engine and propulsion analyses with airframe development • Coordinate with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure turbine design meets program requirements You'll be part of a small, exceptional team that has already built the groundbreaking XB-1 supersonic jet and designed the world's fastest airliner, Overture. The Symphony prototype is expected to run on test stands this year, with first flight just a few years away. This is a hands-on role where you'll see your work directly impact a revolutionary aircraft program.
