Salary: USD 75,000 - 85,000 / annual
Blank Street is seeking a Training Associate to elevate barista and shift lead training across the Los Angeles market. Reporting to the Senior Training Manager, you'll support new team members from onboarding through accreditation, coaching them in-store and partnering with Operations to build confident, capable teams that deliver exceptional coffee, matcha, and hospitality.
You'll drive training results by identifying improvement opportunities, creating action plans with Operations, and sharing field feedback to strengthen training programs, processes, and standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing and validating each barista's journey through the new hire training program; supporting in-store training, leading group trainings at the lab, and facilitating bar assessments; conducting shift lead training certifications; assisting with new product launches; and conducting quarterly assessments for stores to maintain product quality standards.
You'll develop in-depth product and recipe knowledge to maintain quality adherence, build cross-functional relationships to create effective reporting tools, and foster a learning culture that keeps teams motivated and engaged. You'll lead new hire orientations, seasonal drink trainings, new store opening trainings, and team events like Latte Art Throw Downs. As Blank Street grows, you'll have opportunities to take on new projects and help shape the future of training. You'll also support the training and development of future Training Coordinators.
The role requires passion for coffee, a commitment to developing others, ownership mentality, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, in-person role requiring 50 hours per week across 5 days, with flexibility to work outside standard store hours including weekends as needed. Regular travel between LA stores is required.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of barista and training experience
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between stores across LA
- Master of time management and prioritization
- Expert in milk steaming with precise textures for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos
- Ability to consistently pour clean hearts, tulips, and rosettas with intentional technique
- Full-time availability (50 hours/week, 5 days/week) with flexibility for weekend work
