Blank Street is seeking a Training Associate to elevate barista and shift lead training across their Washington DC and Philadelphia markets. You'll support new team members from onboarding through accreditation, coaching them in-store and partnering with Operations to build confident, capable teams that deliver exceptional coffee, matcha, and hospitality.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and validating each barista's journey through the new hire training program; assisting with in-store training, leading large group trainings at the lab, and facilitating final bar assessments. You'll conduct shift lead training certifications, support new product launches, and drive stores toward higher product quality standards through quarterly assessments across all DC and Philadelphia locations. You'll develop actionable reporting to enable field leaders to implement improvements and maintain in-depth knowledge of all products and recipes to ensure quality adherence.
You'll foster cross-functional relationships to build effective reporting tools, create ways to build and foster a learning culture, and serve as an inspirational leader with coffee knowledge and passion for the craft. You'll tailor training approaches to individuals and support the creation of cross-functional projects that ensure a five-star barista experience. This role also includes supporting the training and development of future Training Coordinators.
This is a full-time, in-person role (50 hours per week, 5 days a week) based in either Washington DC or Philadelphia, reporting to the Senior Training Manager. The role requires flexibility to work outside of store operating hours, including weekends as necessary, and regular travel between DC and Philadelphia stores.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of barista and training experience
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Washington, DC and Philadelphia stores
- Master of time management and prioritization
- Expert in milk steaming with precise textures for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos
- Consistently pours clean hearts, tulips, and rosettas with intentional technique
- Coffee knowledge and expertise
- Experience training within an established brand
- Ability to create thoughtful and detailed training content and programs
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Top-tier presentation delivery
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
