Dandy is transforming the dental industry by building an operating system for dental practices globally. The company is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead the Automation Team, responsible for designing and implementing factory automation and mechanized equipment that achieves industry-leading quality standards.
In this role, you will drive the technical, operational, and deployment aspects of manufacturing automation initiatives. Key responsibilities include innovating factory processes and automation designs, working with factory teams to establish and achieve OKRs for automation and continuous improvement, and drafting detailed requirements documents and RFQs/RFPs for automated equipment. You will engage directly with equipment vendors to ensure machines align with Dandy's specifications, approve vendor designs and process flows, and design and execute factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning of automation equipment.
You will lead integration of newly built machines into factories, working alongside engineers and manufacturing teams. The role requires supervising and reporting on key manufacturing metrics (OEE, Yield, CpK, FMEA) from automated systems, interpreting machine output to drive improvement initiatives, and providing routine executive status reporting with escalation of critical issues. You will set aggressive targets and drive execution plans to achieve success.
Required qualifications include 10+ years in advanced manufacturing and high-speed custom automation, with expertise in automation engineering, process engineering, and technical program management. You need strong experience translating NPI requirements into large-scale custom automation solutions, managing high-budget projects with external vendors, and handling the full RFQ-to-PO process. Technical skills in problem-solving and root cause analysis in high-pressure environments are essential, along with deep understanding of process and assembly automation, equipment validation (FAT/SAT), optical inspection, GRR, OEE, line balancing, and process flow optimization.
You should demonstrate leadership, project management, communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills. A BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is required. International travel up to 30% is expected. Bonus experience includes ceramics/CNC machining, plastics/3D printing, technical specification writing, CapEx contract negotiation, and FDA-regulated manufacturing environments (ISO 13485, change control, equipment validation).
