Ramp is building smart infrastructure for finance teams, automating how over $200B in annualized spend flows through 70,000+ companies. The Production Engineering team owns Ramp's infrastructure layer, responsible for making the platform faster, more reliable, and more scalable.
As a Production Engineering Manager (TLM), you will lead a team of full-stack infrastructure engineers while remaining hands-on. You'll own critical systems across compute, storage, messaging, and observability that handle real financial transactions at scale. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing a production engineering team while staying deeply technical
- Building and operating infrastructure across Ramp's compute, storage, messaging, and observability stack
- Driving architectural change across the organization—not just identifying problems but owning solutions end-to-end
- Partnering with product teams at the design phase to embed best practices and golden paths
- Leading Ramp's shift to cellular architecture to enable international scaling, regulatory compliance (FedRAMP), and enterprise-grade SLAs
- Enabling AI-native engineering by proactively partnering with product teams on AI infrastructure patterns
- Building developer tooling and self-service infrastructure so other teams can independently answer questions about cost, performance, and reliability
- Participating in on-call rotation and using incidents as signals to eliminate root causes
- Initiating cross-team architectural reviews and owning company-wide reliability and scalability initiatives
Production Engineers at Ramp are full software engineers who specialize in infrastructure. You write production code, own systems end-to-end, and drive technical outcomes across the organization. The team operates with high agency and urgency, moving fast while staying calibrated on what matters most. There is no separate "infra team"—Production Engineering is embedded in Ramp's core mission to automate financial workflows at scale.
