Voyager Technologies (Space Micro Inc.) is seeking a Test Engineer Manager to lead the test engineering function within the Engineering Department. Based in San Diego, CA, this role reports to the Vice President of Product Design and oversees day-to-day operations of the engineering test team while spending approximately 50% of time as an individual contributor on complex projects.
You will be responsible for managing engineering resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, and providing technical leadership on test architecture, plans, and procedures. Your expertise will span environmental testing including TVAC (Thermal Vacuum), thermal cycling, EMI/EMC, vibration, and shock testing—with demonstrated experience in space-qualified component testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing test operations for cutting-edge space components (Software Defined Radios, Single Board Computers, space-rated cameras, star trackers, laser communications)
- Testing complex PCBAs and developing new test architectures and procedures
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Ensuring adherence to processes, Standard Operating Procedures, and rigorous design flows
- Maintaining communication between the engineering team and other departments
- Serving as the technical point of contact for engineering inquiries and issues
- Collaborating with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives
