Salary: USD 112,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a highly experienced Test & Evaluation Engineer to lead developmental testing of autonomous maritime systems. This role is central to the company's mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced defense technology, including AI-powered operating systems and autonomous systems.
You will own the planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of comprehensive test programs across hardware and software systems, with emphasis on driving design maturation rapidly. Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute full system-level test & evaluation of hardware and software, conducting both shore and sea-based testing
- Lead integration of subsystems including sensors, communication systems, and autonomy software into complete underwater sensor products
- Provide technical guidance and direction to Field Operations teams, including test authority, task assignment, and event scheduling
- Establish and maintain test documentation processes throughout development and test cycles
- Collaborate with program management and engineering leads to establish requirements, communicate test schedules and progress, set test gates, and identify improvement areas
- Work with external partners and customers during integration and test phases to address stakeholder requirements
- Participate in design reviews, requirements analysis, test objectives definition, and system verification planning
- Conduct initial issue investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Oversee test data collection and perform initial data analysis
- Lead teams conducting lab, shore, and sea-based testing at private and government-owned test ranges
- Embed within multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout product design, integration, and test efforts

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline from accredited institution (or equivalent engineering experience)
- 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration, and testing
- 4+ years of experience as a lead test conductor/test director for developmental systems on manned and/or unmanned sea-craft, including requirements development, test planning and execution, and test reporting
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; determine appropriate approaches to solve complex problems
- Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory with broad application experience
- Previous expertise and working knowledge of maritime operating rules and regulations
- Strong computer and documentation experience, including Linux and command line interfaces, and software debugging
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of performing complex tasks in one or more engineering areas

- Ability to work extended hours as required
- Bias for action and problem-solving orientation
- Ability to immediately obtain U.S. Top Secret-Level security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline
- Prior experience with software code/script building using Go, Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
- Working knowledge of COTS small autonomous systems, autopilot, and mission planning software
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS8775, AS5653, or similar standards
- Experience working with maritime personnel and familiarity with maritime terminology
- Experience with tactical datalinks
- Experience with multiple propulsion systems including air and non-air breathing systems
