Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual

Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG and cardiopulmonary diagnostic platforms. As a Test Engineer specializing in hardware and firmware, you will develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for novel EEG and Home Sleep Test systems that meet clinical, regulatory, and business requirements. You will report to the VP of Device Systems and collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, system, and software engineers throughout the product lifecycle—from concept through commercialization. Your core responsibilities include designing and executing hardware characterization and verification tests, developing firmware unit and integration tests, conducting system-level verification, performing root cause analysis on product issues, and maintaining detailed technical documentation aligned with quality and regulatory standards. Key deliverables include developing test plans, protocols, and scripts for embedded systems based on design specifications; maintaining test procedures, fixtures, and equipment; conducting functional, integration, system, and regression testing; troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues in collaboration with engineering teams; ensuring compliance with industry standards and FDA/CE/IEC 60601 regulatory requirements; and implementing process improvements and test automation to enhance quality and efficiency. You bring a BS in engineering or related field and 5+ years of post-graduate professional engineering experience (or 3+ years with an MS degree or above). You have strong technical writing skills, can read electrical schematics, and possess hands-on experience with embedded software on real-time operating systems (RTOS), Python scripting, Git/JIRA/GitHub, and troubleshooting electromechanical systems. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of medical device design controls and regulatory frameworks. The role is hybrid, requiring approximately 3 days per week in the Boston office.
