As a Test Engineer, you will be central to validating and refining Waabi's autonomous vehicle systems through comprehensive testing on closed courses and public roads. You'll work directly with engineering teams to develop and execute sophisticated test plans, ensuring vehicle performance meets rigorous standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with engineers to prepare detailed test plans and vehicle systems for evaluation
- Coordinating and executing both closed-course and on-road testing campaigns
- Generating comprehensive test reports that document vehicle performance metrics and findings
- Managing test schedules and coordinating resources across the testing operation
- Operating actor vehicles during test scenarios to simulate real-world conditions
- Maintaining communication between drivers, engineers, and stakeholders
- Supporting vehicle system inspections, maintenance, and detailed record-keeping
- Ensuring safe and organized test facility operations
You'll need a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related field, plus 3+ years in test engineering or autonomous vehicle development. Technical proficiency with Linux, Python or MATLAB, and vehicle dynamics knowledge is essential. Experience with proving grounds, systems engineering workflows, and autonomous vehicle hardware/software architecture is required. The role demands flexibility, including weekend/holiday availability and travel. You should be detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about advancing self-driving technology.
