Valar Atomics is building advanced nuclear power systems to enable clean, scalable energy for industry and next-generation manufacturing. The company is developing pilot plants and fuel fabrication capabilities to demonstrate how nuclear can be fast-deployed and factory-made.
As a Test Engineer, you'll design and operate test stands that validate hardware performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You'll own the full lifecycle: designing test procedures tailored to specific objectives (performance validation, endurance, environmental testing, failure analysis), executing tests while monitoring live data, and adjusting parameters to capture meaningful results.
You'll build and maintain data acquisition systems—including remote and unattended capability—and integrate test data streams with SCADA and historian infrastructure. A key part of the role is processing raw test data into clean, usable formats for engineering analysis and regulatory reporting.
Troubleshooting is central to the work. You'll diagnose issues in test hardware, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems, then analyze test data to identify root causes in product designs. You'll collaborate closely with design engineers to translate findings into actionable recommendations.
You'll also prepare test reports, maintain organized records for traceability, and present technical results to government regulators and auditors. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, data, and compliance—hands-on with equipment while owning the data pipeline that feeds downstream systems.
Required: Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent; 2+ years test engineering experience; hands-on test stand design and build; data acquisition and sensor instrumentation; SCADA/historian systems; scripting/data tools (Python, MATLAB, SQL); strong troubleshooting and communication skills. Regulatory documentation experience is a plus.
