Helsing is seeking a Test and Evaluation Engineer to join the hardware and platform integration team in Washington, DC. You will be responsible for rigorous testing, validation, and evaluation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems and AI-enabled flight capabilities throughout the complete development and deployment cycle.
Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and scaling test and evaluation pipelines for the autonomous UAV fleet, encompassing physical hardware, flight controllers, communication and sensor payloads, and AI edge-perception models. You will own planning and execution of Modeling and Simulation (M&S), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) analysis to stress-test subsystem integrations and real-time software prior to physical flight testing.
You will organize, coordinate, and execute flight test campaigns, working closely with flight operators, field engineers, and software teams to validate autonomous behaviors, sensor synchronization, and edge-AI model performance under challenging real-world, degraded, and adversarial conditions. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting in demanding field environments—rain, dirt, electromagnetically challenging conditions—ensuring platforms perform with extreme reliability and absolute safety.
You will develop comprehensive test plans and documentation, analyze test data to identify failure modes and performance gaps, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. The role demands strong technical depth in systems engineering, familiarity with UAV/autonomous systems, and the ability to work effectively in both laboratory and field settings.
