Zipline is the world's largest autonomous drone delivery service, operating on four continents and completing millions of deliveries of blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products. The company has flown over 140 million commercial autonomous miles and is redefining logistics and healthcare access globally. You will own technical documentation for Zipline's aircraft, drones, docks, and site equipment, creating manuals and procedures that enable field technicians to maintain and service complex systems safely and consistently. Your work will span maintenance procedures, inspections, troubleshooting guides, system descriptions, and service bulletins. You'll research engineering source material, observe maintenance work in the field, interview subject matter experts, and resolve gaps or conflicts in technical information before publication. You'll coordinate reviews and approvals across engineering, maintenance, and operations teams, track revisions, and communicate blockers through to release. Key responsibilities include: owning assigned manuals from research through release and ongoing maintenance; writing clear procedures with safety information, tools, parts, and prerequisites prominently featured; validating technical accuracy through observation and expert interviews; organizing content and terminology for quick technician access; structuring procedures and metadata for reuse across systems; migrating documentation from MadCap Flare to GitHub-based Markdown/MDX workflows; improving templates and authoring guidance; and identifying where visuals would enhance clarity. You'll work hands-on with hardware and the people who service it, asking precise questions and staying engaged through publication. As priorities shift, you may develop content for other systems beyond the initial focus on Droid and Dock equipment. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in technical communication, English, engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience - Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining technical documentation for complex hardware, software, or operational systems; work samples required showing clear, accurate instructions - Strong writing and editing skills; ability to make complex information clear and easy to follow - Ability to learn unfamiliar systems from technical source material, observation, and subject matter expert conversations, then verify details before publication - Demonstrated care with safety, applicability, revision control, and change management; sound judgment about when technical questions must be resolved before release - Ability to manage documentation projects, coordinate reviews and priorities across teams, and adapt to structured authoring and publishing tools such as GitHub or Markdown
