Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure systems for data centers, EV charging platforms, and future energy applications. The company combines advanced power electronics, embedded controls, and scalable energy architectures to modernize how power is converted, controlled, and deployed. You will lead the development and management of comprehensive product documentation and build an online document portal for customers and partners. This role is central to delivering clear, accurate, and compliant documentation across the entire product lifecycle—from customer acquisition through site design, installation, commissioning, operations, service, and safety. You will support the entire commercial organization across Sales, Deployment, Service, and Policy. Key responsibilities include: - Author, edit, and maintain the full suite of product documentation including sales content, site design guides, installation manuals, commissioning procedures, operations and maintenance manuals, service and troubleshooting guides, safety documentation, applications notes, and technical whitepapers. - Translate complex electrical, mechanical, and control-system information into clear, accurate, and standardized documentation with support from internal teams. - Manage source files, graphics, diagrams, and illustrations, coordinating with engineering and design resources to keep visuals current and technically accurate. - Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all manuals and technical publications. - Plan, manage, and prioritize documentation projects against product development and release schedules, coordinating revisions for new products, engineering changes, and field updates. - Design, implement, and administer an online document portal, including site structure, content organization, and access permissions. - Monitor portal usage and gather customer/partner feedback to continuously improve document findability, clarity, and the overall self-service support experience. - Lead translation and localization efforts for international markets, ensuring technical accuracy is preserved across languages. - Travel occasionally to manufacturing, installation, or job sites to gather firsthand technical information. You will work onsite in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or Reno with occasional travel between U.S. offices. In-person collaboration across engineering and product teams is critical to enabling rapid execution, technical alignment, and successful development outcomes. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of technical writing experience for technologically complex products involving hardware and software. - Demonstrated experience authoring installation, commissioning, operations, service, and safety documentation for complex mechanical or electrical equipment. - Sufficient technical depth to easily grasp technical concepts across engineering domains including mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and networking. - Proven experience planning, building, or administering a document management system or customer/partner portal, including configuring user roles. - Proficiency with technical publishing and authoring tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML, or similar structured authoring/DITA environments) and graphics tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, draw.io, Blender, etc.). - Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects and deadlines simultaneously across cross-functional teams. - Strong written communication skills with meticulous attention to accuracy, consistency, and clarity in highly technical subject matter. - Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to manufacturing, installation, or job sites to gather firsthand technical information. NICE TO HAVE: - Experience working in a startup. - Experience working as an engineer. - Strong preference for candidates from energy, power generation, industrial equipment, or equipment OEM environments. - Ability to independently interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, CAD models, engineering specifications, and test documentation for translation into customer/partner documentation.
