StarTree is a cloud-based analytics platform built on Apache Pinot, enabling real-time insights for enterprise customers. The company recently closed Series B funding and powers analytics at scale for companies like Stripe, Uber, LinkedIn, and Walmart.
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be a critical interface between customers and StarTree's engineering teams, providing expert technical support and driving customer satisfaction. You'll become a subject matter expert on Apache Pinot and the StarTree Platform, delivering exceptional support for production issues and complex technical challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting and resolving performance and configuration issues for StarTree customers in collaboration with field technical teams and Engineering
- Providing customer support via tickets, Slack Connect, and Zoom for complex cases
- Contributing to the knowledge base by documenting solutions, best practices, and lessons learned; mentoring team members
- Acting as the voice of the customer, sharing product feedback and feature requests with development teams to drive innovation
- Creating internal tooling and identifying process improvements to increase team efficiency
- Working with advanced data technologies including vector indexes to support AI-driven innovations
- Participating in on-call rotation for urgent production issues outside regular working hours
The role is based in India (IST timezone) with a working schedule of 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM IST to provide follow-the-sun coverage for North American customers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4–6 years of experience in Pre/Post-Sales or Customer-facing technical roles
- Hands-on experience with open-source data technologies
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with OLAP, Analytics, Kubernetes, and SQL
- Experience and/or strong understanding of streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka
- Proven troubleshooting skills across systems, applications, network, JVM, and Linux-based applications
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure patterns and services within at least one major public cloud (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
- Familiarity with modern OLAP systems such as Apache Pinot, Druid, or Clickhouse (preferred)
- Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and Presto/Trino (preferred)
- Cloud Solutions Architecture certification for AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure (bonus)
- Computer Science degree with focus on Data Science, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics (bonus)
