Arista Networks is seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer to serve as a top-tier support engineer, equivalent to a Tier 3 or Escalation Engineer. This role goes beyond standard support positions and requires deep technical expertise across Arista's product portfolio and network protocols supported by EOS.
You will work in a collaborative, non-siloed environment supporting all Arista products and network protocols. You'll engage directly with customers and, when necessary, coordinate with software and hardware development teams to diagnose and resolve complex issues. The TSE team operates a dedicated lab environment where you'll perform your own test recreations and troubleshooting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to customer product inquiries via phone and email
- Resolving customer concerns related to installation, operation, maintenance, product application, and compatibility
- Troubleshooting hardware and software problems and recommending corrective actions
- Documenting customer communications and recurring technical issues to support product quality and development initiatives
- Working directly with development teams when escalation is needed
This role emphasizes interpersonal skills, deep product knowledge, and the ability to streamline support processes while raising customer satisfaction through direct access to a high-level engineer.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1–5 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, debugging, and administering network protocols and technologies including: AAA/TACACS, ACL, ARP, BGP (RFC 4271), DHCP, 1G/10G Ethernet (IEEE 802.3ab & 802.3ae), Flow Control, ICMP, IGMP, IPv4 & IPv6, LACP, LLDP, MPLS, NAT, OpenFlow, OSPF (RFC 2328), PIM, QoS, RIP, Sflow, SNMP, STP/RSTP/MST (IEEE 802.1d), VARP/VRRP, VLAN (IEEE 802.1q), VRF
- Working knowledge of the networking industry, products, and protocols
- Minimum education: Master's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or IT preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and triage abilities
- High aptitude for learning and teaching
- Collaborative approach and ability to work across teams
Highly desired:
- Experience with troubleshooting tools such as IXIA, tcpdump, and Wireshark or similar packet generation and analysis tools
- Strong comfort level with Linux
- Industry certifications
- Prior TAC (Technical Assistance Center) experience
Desirable:
- Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (C++, Java, Python, Perl, JavaScript, shell)
