Salary: USD 124,733 - 187,048 / annual
Echodyne is seeking a Senior PCB Design Engineer to join its PCB Design team and own complex board designs for advanced radar products and related hardware. The company develops compact solid-state beam-steering radar technology using metamaterials, serving autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications.
In this role, you will independently plan and drive assigned PCB designs from schematic review through production release, managing estimates, priorities, dependencies, technical risks, and status. You will translate schematics, electrical requirements, and mechanical constraints into complex multilayer PCBAs for analog, RF, and mixed-signal applications. Close collaboration with Analog/Mixed-Signal (AMS), RF, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, as well as external suppliers, is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing board outlines, stackups, materials, placement, routing, controlled impedance, via structures, and other physical design requirements in collaboration with engineering and PCB fabricators
- Applying signal integrity, power integrity, electromagnetic compatibility, thermal, reliability, and design for manufacturability/assembly/test (DFM/DFA/DFT) best practices
- Working with Electrical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and external vendors to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability
- Supporting new product introduction (NPI), product revisions, and sustaining changes by resolving fabrication, assembly, build, yield, and production issues
- Creating, reviewing, and maintaining component symbols, footprints, and 3D models in the company-wide component library
- Providing technical guidance to less experienced PCB designers and improving PCB design methods, standards, tool flows, and review/release practices
- Collaborating with RF Engineering and Analog/Mixed Signal design teams to understand requirements and implement best practices in schematic and layout
You will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, from layout planning and design release through NPI, production, and sustaining engineering.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of relevant PCB design experience, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
- Proficiency with Altium Designer or similar PCB design software and ability to interpret complex schematics
- Knowledge of PCB layout practices for RF, millimeter-wave, high-speed digital, mixed-signal, analog, and power applications
- Knowledge of PCB stackups, materials, controlled impedance, via structures, finishes, fabrication processes, and assembly methods
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, electromagnetic compatibility, thermal management, and reliability principles
- Experience with design for manufacturability, assembly, and test (DFM/DFA/DFT)
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
- Eligibility to handle export-controlled technical data, including ITAR and EAR-controlled information (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or asylum/refugee status in the U.S. required)
