Salary: USD 124,733 - 187,048 / annual
Echodyne is seeking a Senior Component Engineer to join its Component Engineering team. The company develops compact solid-state beam-steering radar systems for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications, combining patented metamaterial technology with software to deliver high-performance radar sensors.
In this role, you will own component engineering activities across product development, production, and sustaining engineering for assigned products and programs. You will evaluate electronic components based on performance, reliability, availability, cost, lifecycle, and application requirements. Key responsibilities include:
• Own component qualification for new parts, alternates, and changes in coordination with design engineers, including qualification plans, test requirements, acceptance criteria, and final approval
• Review new part requests against design requirements and component risks, ensuring alignment with component selection standards and derating guidelines before production release
• Partner with design engineers on component selection, trade studies, and resolution of component-related technical issues
• Manage component part creation and release, including AML/AVL records and required documentation within PLM systems
• Provide component engineering input during design and production-readiness reviews
• Drive component lifecycle and supply continuity by performing BOM reviews and proactively identifying obsolescence, availability, lead time, and single-source risks
• Drive PCN, EOL, shortage, last-time-buy, second-source, and alternate component activities
• Drive component standardization, part consolidation, cost reduction, and value-engineering activities
• Coordinate production and sustaining activities across Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and external suppliers
• Resolve complex component and supplier quality issues
• Mentor less experienced engineers
You will work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure components remain available, compliant, and supportable throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong component engineering expertise with sound technical judgment and effective collaboration skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 or more years of relevant experience in component engineering, hardware development, electronics manufacturing, or related discipline
• Eligibility to handle export-controlled information (ITAR/EAR); the company will ask applicants to identify U.S. citizenship, green card holder status, or asylum/refugee status in the U.S. as part of the application process
