Salary: USD 100,000 - 180,000 / annual

General Matter is a venture-backed nuclear fuel enrichment company backed by Founders Fund and over a dozen top-tier VC firms. The company is designing and operating the world's lowest-cost uranium enrichment services in the US, with a mission to restore America's nuclear fuel production capabilities and make nuclear energy the most affordable baseload power source. You will join a lean, high-impact talent acquisition team as a Technical Recruiter focused on building hardware engineering, manufacturing, and nuclear teams for General Matter's next enrichment facility in Los Angeles. You will own full-cycle technical recruiting for interdisciplinary roles including mechanical engineering, hardware design, test, manufacturing, construction, nuclear engineering, and supply chain. Your responsibilities span intake and sourcing through screening and closing exceptional engineering talent. Key responsibilities include: - Own full-cycle technical recruiting for hardware engineering, manufacturing, and operational roles from intake to closing - Partner with engineering leaders and hiring managers to provide market insights, calibrate on top talent, and refine interview processes - Conduct thorough initial interviews assessing technical ability, excellence, and cultural alignment - Design and execute sourcing strategies for mechanical, hardware, and manufacturing engineering talent using creative approaches beyond Boolean searches, including events and networking - Deliver exceptional candidate experiences reflecting the company's mission and high-performance culture - Track and analyze recruiting metrics to continuously refine processes - Maintain applicant tracking system accuracy and cleanliness - Support university recruitment initiatives, coordinate onsite interviews, and lead process improvement projects as the company scales The company values a Skunkworks-style approach, autonomy, ownership, and mission-driven talent. You'll be working on a project of national importance with a team that has launched products and entire industries across nuclear, space, defense, and finance. REQUIREMENTS: Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of recruiting experience (academic, internships, and university-level extracurriculars qualify), OR associate degree and 3+ years of experience, OR 4+ years of professional recruiting experience without a degree - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence, negotiate, and articulate value to candidates and hiring teams - Proven ability to manage and execute multiple competing priorities with autonomy - High bar for personal accountability and performance, consistently delivering quality results with speed, ownership, and attention to detail - Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and advising on hiring decisions Preferred Skills and Experience: - Experience recruiting mechanical and hardware engineers (design, structures, propulsion, manufacturing, test, integration) at high-growth aerospace, defense, space, automotive, or hard-tech companies (in-house or agency) - Established network across Los Angeles aerospace, defense, and hardware engineering talent market with track record of closing engineers in competitive, multi-offer situations - Experience recruiting electrical, chemical, and/or software engineers - Full lifecycle recruiting experience from sourcing to closing - Proven success hiring for highly specialized or niche roles (building architects, chemical engineers, nuclear licensing engineers, technical experts) - Ability to distinguish between top 50% and top 5% of talent within respective fields - Expertise in non-standard recruiting methods: cold calling, organizing networking events, identifying industry experts, creating targeted sourcing campaigns - Deep motivation by General Matter's mission to restore US fuel enrichment capabilities and strengthen national energy security Additional Requirements: - Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed - Position requires full-time onsite presence in Los Angeles; hybrid and remote work will not be considered
