VEIR is a U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of superconducting power delivery systems built for the extreme energy demands of the AI era. The company commercializes next-generation superconducting technology into deployable, real-world systems, delivering approximately 10× higher power density than conventional options. VEIR's initial focus is AI data centers behind the meter, with solutions engineered for repeatable deployment through reference designs and integrated controls. The Technical Project Manager drives day-to-day execution of VEIR product development programs against the Product Development Process. This role is deeply involved in the details: building schedules with engineering, product management, supply chain, manufacturing, and operations; tracking deliverables to closure; identifying where one team's slip becomes another team's blocker; and keeping Exit Gate deliverables on track. The role exists to take planning and tracking load off functional leads and to make sure execution is predictable rather than heroic. This is not a reporting role. Technical Project Managers are expected to interrogate the plans they are given, not just collect and republish them—asking hard questions, challenging assumptions behind dates, and pushing back when a recovery plan is optimistic rather than credible. When a test fails or a supplier slips, the TPM convenes the right people, drives the team to root cause, and forces a recovery plan with owners and dates. This requires enough technical depth across engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing to know which answers hold up and which do not. Key responsibilities include: interrogating plans and status rather than relaying them; challenging assumptions behind dates, estimates, and readiness claims; convening cross-functional groups when issues emerge and driving to root cause and credible recovery plans; developing and pressure-testing contingency options in parallel with the primary plan; challenging and verifying supplier and manufacturing readiness claims; bringing judgment to status reporting with risk assessments and recommended paths; building and maintaining detailed cross-functional schedules; tracking deliverables to completion across all contributing functions; maintaining Exit Gate deliverable tracking and driving open items to closure; running program meetings that produce decisions, owners, and dates; identifying cross-functional interdependencies and making them explicit; surfacing emerging risks early with practical mitigation options; maintaining program risk and issue logs; supporting resource and cost forecasting; producing clear, consistent program status reporting; driving accountability across functions; and supporting Commercial PMs with engineering deliverable status and documentation. Success in 12 months means: assigned programs have accurate, maintained schedules that teams work from; Exit Gate deliverables are tracked continuously with no surprises at gate reviews; interdependencies and risks are raised early with mitigation options; when something breaks, a recovery plan with named owners and dates exists within days; cross-functional partners view the TPM as someone who makes their plans better; and functional leads spend measurably less time on planning and tracking administration. REQUIREMENTS: - 4–8 years of technical project or program management experience in hardware product development - Hands-on experience building and maintaining detailed cross-functional schedules and tracking deliverables to closure - Familiarity with phase-gate product development and deliverables typically required at each gate - Technical fluency across multiple functions (engineering, supply chain, manufacturing) sufficient to challenge estimates, interrogate readiness claims, and identify when answers do not add up; engineering degree or equivalent hands-on technical background required - Demonstrated experience driving a cross-functional team to root cause and recovery plan after test failure, supplier miss, or schedule slip - Proficiency with project management and tracking tooling (Monday.com, MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Asana, or similar) - Strong communicator with concise written updates, well-run meetings, and comfort driving accountability across teams - Organized, persistent, and detail-oriented with judgment to know which details matter PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with power electronics, low and medium-voltage systems, cabling, cryogenics, or other complex electromechanical hardware - Prototype-to-production or NPI experience at a hardware startup - Exposure to supply chain or manufacturing planning
