OpenAI's Research IP Partnerships team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to bridge applied research with external strategic partners. You will serve as a critical connector enabling partners to deploy advanced AI models, synthesizing research across cross-functional teams and ensuring successful technology adoption. Key responsibilities include building deep understanding of frontier AI model development, partnering with internal and external teams to drive deployment of OpenAI's latest technologies, managing inquiries from both technical and non-technical stakeholders, designing scalable processes for complex problems, and delivering high-profile pipeline and tooling projects on tight deadlines. You will work across research and engineering to align goals, streamline communication, and support business priorities. Ideal candidates have experience in strategic partnerships and technical program management, with strong ability to right-size processes while maintaining delivery speed. You should excel at building cross-functional relationships with empathy for diverse roles involved in research deployment. Strong communication skills across written, presentation, and visual formats are essential. Experience designing and building tools via code, no-code platforms, or AI is valuable. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with agentic models or OpenAI LLM APIs, and experience with no-code/low-code platforms such as Airtable, Zapier, or Retool. You should be action-oriented, curious about the rapidly evolving AI landscape, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available for new employees.
