Doctolib is seeking a Technical Program Manager to join its AI Research Lab in Paris. This is a foundational role at an early-stage European clinical AI research lab, where you will serve as the operational backbone enabling researchers to focus on high-impact work.
The AI Lab tackles complex questions at the intersection of clinical AI, patient modeling, causal inference, calibration, privacy, and real-world evaluation, leveraging one of Europe's largest longitudinal EHR datasets. You will work with a multidisciplinary team including research scientists, data scientists, research engineers, PhD students, and research affiliates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and operate the Lab's core processes from scratch: portfolio management, roadmap tracking, async documentation, and decision-making cadence
- Connect research and product by understanding both the Lab's projects and product roadmaps, proposing concrete collaborations, and leading recurring interfaces (bi-annual DS-Research workshops, monthly research on-sites)
- Filter and triage inbound partnership proposals, collaboration requests, and internal asks, escalating only high-priority items to researchers
- Own operational blockers (data access, compute, contracts, academic collaboration administration) and drive them to closure
- Manage hiring logistics: interface with Talent Acquisition on scheduling, candidate communication, process documentation, and scorecard templates
- Map the ecosystem of adjacent labs, companies, and institutions; lead the first data challenge end-to-end
- Communicate Lab needs to product, data, medical, legal, and people teams; report scientific outputs, program health, and risks to leadership
You will operate in a healthcare context with real patients and clinicians, requiring both rigor and sensitivity to clinical impact.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in program management, research operations, or comparable high-complexity role, ideally in AI, engineering, scientific, or product environments
- Demonstrated ability to design and run processes from scratch, coordinate multiple workstreams across specialist teams, and manage a portfolio of priorities, dependencies, risks, and milestones with rigor
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and expert teams without formal authority; follow unresolved items to resolution
- Clear communication skills: make complex topics actionable for non-technical audiences and precise for technical ones
- Sufficient understanding of machine learning to follow research discussions, judge which requests merit researcher time, and translate team goals for the broader company
- Fluent in English; working French required (academic-administration processes such as CIFRE and ANRT run in French)
Preferred:
- Experience as Chief of Staff to a CTO, VP Engineering, Research Director, or Head of AI
- Experience as Research Operations Manager in an AI lab, university, hospital, or industrial research organization
- Familiarity with academic-industry collaborations, CIFRE, PhD programs, grants, or data challenges
- Background in clinical AI, healthtech, model evaluation, AI safety, privacy, or data governance
