Rainforest is an early-stage payments-as-a-service startup building infrastructure that enables vertically focused software platforms to embed payments for their small business customers without operational or regulatory burden. The company is led by a repeat fintech founder and backed by a Top 10 VC firm.
As Technical Product Owner for Payments Integrations, you will own the delivery of payment product initiatives and releases, working closely with the Rails engineering team to define, prioritize, and ship payment products embedded into client vertical SaaS software. You'll operate with significant autonomy, translating product strategy into functional and technical requirements, managing the product backlog, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure integrations are accurate and maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining, documenting, and communicating product goals, requirements, and constraints
- Translating product strategy into well-defined functional and technical requirements for engineering
- Participating in agile ceremonies, communicating product stories, and executing delivery at scale
- Managing and prioritizing the product backlog
- Building collaborative relationships with product, engineering, and internal/external stakeholders
- Working with vendors to ensure payment integrations are accurate and maintained
- Gathering requirements, creating documentation, and writing user stories for agile scrum teams
You'll be helping to build payment infrastructure that moves billions of dollars through the Rainforest ecosystem, with opportunities to grow your product experience in a high-impact fintech environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years as a Product Owner or similar role
- Deep experience with payment processing and/or PayFac, including building payment products
- Foundational knowledge of credit card payment lifecycle (auth, settle, funding), interchange qualification, ACH funding timeframes, and merchant underwriting
- Strong technical background with ability to understand modern cloud-based SaaS payments product architecture
- Proven experience with Product Management concepts: roadmaps, product vision, strategy, and market research
- Demonstrated ability in gathering requirements, creating documentation, and writing user stories
- Strong understanding of agile scrum teams and continuous deployment release strategies
- Ability to visualize and prototype stories and feature sets
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines
