Seated is a restaurant technology platform that helps restaurants optimize capacity and profitability by connecting them to millions of high-intent diners through demand-driven pricing and rewards. The company operates in 19 U.S. markets and is expanding nationally.
You will own the product roadmap for Seated's payments and platform systems—the core infrastructure powering merchant matching, card-linked transactions, rewards, billing, and partner integrations. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll be the bridge between business stakeholders (Sales, Restaurant Success, Operations, Partnerships, Finance, Leadership) and the engineering team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the full product lifecycle: from business request through scoped work, prioritization, specification writing, sprint execution, acceptance testing, and verification of shipped features
- Conducting independent data analysis using SQL to identify opportunities and validate impact
- Writing detailed technical specifications and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from without further translation
- Managing vendor evaluation and build-versus-buy decisions for payments and platform integrations
- Owning the monthly planning cycle, from stakeholder intake through sizing to committed delivery
- Managing sprint execution, maintaining accurate delivery status, and protecting scope against mid-cycle priority shifts
- Defining success metrics and confirming that shipped features moved them
- Communicating progress, trade-offs, and slippage to leadership regularly
- Helping build and scale the product management function over time
This is a technically deep role that requires hands-on involvement in payments infrastructure, API integrations, and data analysis. You'll pull your own data, write your own specs, and own outcomes rather than handing work off.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of product management experience on technically deep products such as payments, fintech, API platforms, or infrastructure
- Computer science degree or equivalent technical background (prior engineering or analyst experience)
- Experience with payments infrastructure, including card network flows, authorization and settlement lifecycles, processor and gateway integrations
- Proficiency with SQL and ability to independently pull, validate, and analyze data
- Ability to read API schemas, trace webhooks, and reason about idempotency, retries, and reconciliation
- Experience writing technical specifications and acceptance criteria for engineering teams
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve research, execution, and decision-making
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to independently QA and validate work
- Strong written communication skills for both engineers and executives
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including ability to say no and explain trade-offs
Nice to haves:
- Direct experience with merchant matching, merchant identifier (MID) management, or card-linked offers
- Experience with billing, invoicing, or revenue systems
- Experience with restaurant technology, marketplaces, or two-sided consumer platforms
- Experience partnering with distributed or offshore engineering teams
