Morpho is a leading decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol backed by top-tier crypto investors (a16z crypto, Paradigm, Ribbit Capital, and others). The company operates an open credit network with over $1 billion in deposits, serving institutional clients like Bitwise, Galaxy, and Anchorage Digital, as well as major exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken.
You will build and lead Morpho's platform engineering team, owning the infrastructure roadmap end-to-end while raising reliability to institutional standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic ownership with technical depth.
Key responsibilities include: building and scaling the platform engineering team through hiring, performance management, and career development; owning the infrastructure roadmap and technical strategy, translating product and business needs into prioritized backlogs and documented architecture decisions; accelerating engineering velocity by driving self-service infrastructure, optimizing CI/CD for the monorepo, and building developer tooling that reduces deployment time; raising reliability and security standards through zero-trust IAM, observability across tier-1 services, proactive alerting, and blameless incident practices; partnering cross-functionally with product, protocol, and business teams to represent platform engineering and ensure infrastructure enables rather than gates delivery; and setting engineering culture through clear architecture documentation, infrastructure-as-code standards, and mentorship.
In your first 30 days, you'll build deep context on Morpho's on-chain deployment patterns and infrastructure pain points, publish an initial platform strategy and 90-day roadmap, begin 1:1s with the team, and take over weekly incident reviews. Within three months, you'll have the platform team staffed against priorities with a clear pipeline, ship a self-service deployment pipeline with automated rollbacks for at least one tier-1 service, and establish observability with proactive alerting and defined SLOs.
Required: 8+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering with 3+ years managing engineering teams; proven track record building and scaling production infrastructure from startup to enterprise scale; experience leading platform or infrastructure transformations with measurable improvements in developer velocity and reliability; deep technical fluency in event-driven architectures, Kubernetes-based platforms, GitOps, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred); hands-on technical capability to review architecture and guide technical decisions while leading management-first; strong cross-functional leadership across product, protocol, and business teams; comfort in fast-changing, ambiguous environments; clear async communication skills; high ownership and autonomy with a team-first mindset; and genuine curiosity about crypto and DeFi.
