Motive is seeking a Technical Lead Manager to lead a team of engineers while driving execution of complex technical initiatives and maintaining high engineering standards. The role combines strong technical judgment with people leadership, requiring the ability to coach engineers, shape technical direction, and partner across functions to deliver outcomes aligned with team and departmental objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing an engineering team through coaching, mentorship, and performance development; planning and executing projects by translating business needs into clear delivery plans; driving technical design discussions and reviews to ensure strong architecture, code quality, testing, and operational excellence; partnering with product, engineering, and adjacent stakeholders to align priorities and manage tradeoffs; hiring and growing high-performing engineers while fostering a healthy engineering culture; and resolving complex team and delivery issues through rigorous problem-solving and effective cross-geographic collaboration.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience. Required qualifications include strong technical depth in modern software engineering practices (distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, automated testing, development workflows), experience leading complex cross-functional projects from planning through execution with focus on high-quality delivery, architectural thinking and ability to guide teams toward sound technical decisions, a track record of coaching engineers and improving team effectiveness, and strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
