Paraform is a marketplace modernizing hiring by connecting companies with specialized recruiters and AI agents. The company has $100M+ ARR and is scaling its engineering team 3x over the next year.
You'll lead the AI Platform engineering team, which owns the matching, ranking, and agentic systems that determine which recruiter sees which role, which candidate reaches which company, and how much of the hiring process runs autonomously. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you'll manage a pod of applied AI and ML engineers while staying deeply involved in core ML work yourself.
You'll spend at least a third of your time building—reading PRs, reviewing model evaluations, and shipping production code every week. Your responsibilities include hiring and coaching the team, owning core ML systems (matching, ranking, retrieval models), tackling the hardest modeling problems, building agentic LLM-powered workflows, implementing trust and safety systems, establishing rigorous evaluation frameworks, and managing the quality/cost/latency tradeoffs as the system scales.
The role requires staff-level IC depth in ML or applied AI, with 1+ years managing engineers (Tech Lead Manager track) or 4+ years setting technical direction across teams (Technical Director track). You must have shipped production ML or LLM systems at scale (retrieval, ranking, recommendation, agentic workflows). You're eval-driven, data-fluent (comfortable with SQL and experiment analysis), and use AI tools in your own work. You write clearly—operating norms, decision docs, postmortems—and genuinely want to build production code as part of your leadership role.
Paraform's moat is built on proprietary hiring data and the systems your team will create. You'll set technical direction for AI at the company while it's still small enough for your decisions to compound significantly.
