ClassWallet is a fintech company serving US public agencies to manage and distribute public funds efficiently. The company has processed over $6.7 billion across 39 states, serves 300+ agency clients, and was ranked 61st on Inc. 5000's fastest-growing companies and 21st on Deloitte's Tech Fast 500 for fintech in 2023. The Core Services team builds foundational infrastructure and reusable services that power ClassWallet's platform. This role is a hands-on senior individual contributor reporting to the architecture organization, responsible for designing and delivering mission-critical shared services that multiple engineering teams depend on. Key responsibilities include: building greenfield internal services from zero to production adoption; designing customer-facing applications in React, Next.js, and TypeScript; building administration backends and configurable workflow tooling; owning durable API contracts with versioning, backward compatibility, and published SDKs; designing and evolving data models across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB; operating services with SLOs, instrumentation, and alerting in Datadog; advancing agentic development practices and delivery automation; and writing RFCs, design docs, and integration guides while mentoring consuming teams. The role encompasses a deliberately broad mandate: data model design, CI/CD automation, build and test infrastructure, and close partnership with QA, Platform, and Security teams. You'll work with AI-assisted development tooling as a primary part of your workflow and help establish specifications, test strategies, and review practices for production-quality AI-assisted engineering at scale. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent); 8+ years of professional software engineering with significant depth in backend and platform work; demonstrated experience owning production enterprise systems over multi-year horizons, including versioning widely-used interfaces, running deprecation cycles, and migrating consumers; track record of taking services from design to production to adoption; ability to build consensus across teams without formal authority; proven mentoring experience; and fluency with agentic and AI-assisted development.
