Unmind is seeking a Technical Lead to join one of its product teams, reporting to an Engineering Manager. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, requiring you to partner closely with the Product Manager to drive the team's metrics while maintaining technical governance and quality standards.
You'll own the technical direction, architecture, and quality of your team's work. This includes representing technology needs in product and roadmap conversations, making architectural decisions, managing technical risk, and ensuring the team's output aligns with Unmind's broader technical strategy. You'll work with Staff Engineers to maintain consistency across domains and collaborate with the Engineering Manager on technical sequencing and delivery impact.
The role is fundamentally hands-on: you'll build alongside your engineers, take on complex work, mentor team members on craft, and conduct technical reviews. You'll also embed AI into your workflow using Claude Code for scoping, designing, coding, reviewing, and documenting.
Unmind's tech stack includes TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, Python, Golang, and SQL. Strong software engineering fundamentals and curiosity matter more than experience with every tool.
You should have a proven track record as a Senior Engineer in product-focused teams, with experience designing and shipping complex software and making architectural decisions. A strong partnership history with Product Managers is essential—you shape what gets built by bringing technical and business knowledge into conversations. You operate with sound judgment and independence, making good calls with imperfect information and managing your time between hands-on work and leadership. You're comfortable communicating technical context to non-engineers and understand the business context of what you build, thinking in terms of user and business outcomes.
The company is remote-first within the UK with monthly travel to London for in-person collaboration. Unmind serves major clients including Uber, Disney, Major League Baseball, and the NHS, combining science, technology, and human care to improve mental health and drive organizational performance.
