Datadog's Technical Escalation Engineering (TEE) team is seeking a Technical Escalations Engineer 2 focused on Revenue and Cost Management for the APJ region. This role sits at the intersection of Technical Solutions, Engineering, Product, and Customer Success, tackling complex technical problems that directly impact platform performance and customer success.
You will become the expert on usage metering, revenue-impacting behavior, and Cloud Cost Management within Technical Solutions. Key responsibilities include leading escalations involving unexpected usage, missing metering data, usage spikes, billing anomalies, unclear attribution, and limits enforcement across all Datadog product lines. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to escalate bugs, align on expected behavior, improve usage visibility, and drive transparency in billing and usage tracking.
You will build internal guides, tooling, diagnostics, and playbooks—plus customer-facing content—that help teams confidently handle billing and revenue-related questions. You'll enable the global Solutions team by running training sessions and building scalable resources that empower others to support usage, billing, and cost-related conversations. Acting as a voice of the customer, you'll surface feedback and patterns to shape the roadmap for usage visibility, billing transparency, and cost management.
Ideal candidates are curious and detail-oriented about usage measurement, attribution, and billing across products. You have a strong grasp of cloud cost drivers, usage attribution, and spend analysis. Familiarity with cloud billing models (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, product usage metrics, and tagging strategies is essential. You're comfortable working across technical and business boundaries, equally at home with backend telemetry pipelines and customer-facing impact. You can communicate usage and cost impact clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are committed to finding root causes that drive customer trust.
