Pigment is seeking an experienced Technical Content Engineer to join the Customer and Product Education team. You will architect and own the technical narrative and knowledge systems that serve both customers and AI agents, ensuring the right information is available at the moment it's needed.
In this role, you'll design and maintain a logic-driven knowledge base that supports self-service learning and powers Pigment's native Documentation Agent. You'll translate complex product updates—including AI-driven capabilities that allow users to build models through natural language—into clear, discoverable content. You'll work at the intersection of Product and Customer Experience, partnering with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Professional Services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing and editing logically structured, reader-focused documentation aligned with style guides, optimized for both human readers and AI agents
- Designing intuitive content layouts and visual aids within the knowledge base, making strategic decisions on structure to maximize comprehension and self-service
- Structuring content to be reliably chunked, retrieved, and cited by AI agents
- Exploring and implementing AI-driven workflows to streamline content creation while maintaining editorial judgment
- Partnering with Product and Engineering to improve the Documentation Agent by curating source content, writing agent instructions, reviewing answers for accuracy, and feeding gaps back into the knowledge base
- Managing content through Git-based workflows (Markdown, pull requests, automated checks)
- Building lightweight automation and AI-assisted workflows to reduce repetitive work and enable contributions from colleagues
- Proactively exploring new product functionalities and building clear use-case examples
- Using data-driven insights from knowledge base analytics and agent performance metrics to recommend improvements
- Acting as a mentor and main contributor to documentation standards, including AI and docs-as-code practices
The role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizing tasks, and maintaining focus when product priorities shift.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, content strategy, or documentation engineering, preferably in SaaS, EPM, or FinTech
- Strong command of authoring, hosting, and collaboration tools: Document360, Jira/Confluence, Git/GitHub, Markdown (VS Code)
- Hands-on experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, pull requests, Markdown, CI-based checks)
- Practical experience using LLMs in writing workflows, including prompting, critically reviewing output, and building repeatable workflows
- Understanding of machine-readable content (consistent structure, self-contained sections, clear metadata)
- Strong editorial judgment to verify AI-generated content for accuracy
- Proven ability to independently learn complex product functionality and translate it for technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using data and insights to inform content decisions and measure documentation effectiveness
- Highly collaborative mindset with ability to work across time zones and departments
- Professional fluency in English required; French proficiency is a significant advantage
Nice to have:
- Scripting ability (Python or JavaScript) for automation
- Familiarity with RAG concepts, llms.txt, or MCP
- Experience evaluating or improving AI assistant/agent output
- Experience with OpenAPI or generating reference documentation from source
