Stensul is seeking a Technical Lead for Product Engineering to own the technical direction of a team focused on platform activation and asset delivery. You'll report to an Engineering Manager and balance technical sustainability with business urgency while making architectural decisions for a B2B SaaS platform serving enterprise marketing teams.
In this role, you'll lead architectural and technical discussions, guide the team's technical direction, and promote engineering best practices including secure SDLC, data privacy, observability, and system reliability. You'll contribute directly to the codebase, improve system architecture and scalability, and drive complex technical initiatives and refactoring efforts.
You'll mentor and support engineers in their technical growth, foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration, and encourage ownership from idea through production and long-term maintenance. You'll provide technical input to hiring decisions and work closely with other Tech Leads, platform teams, and SRE to align on architecture and engineering standards.
You'll own system availability and reliability, lead incident reviews and post-mortems, and proactively identify and communicate risks and technical challenges. Key technical challenges include scaling a platform for complex campaign production, designing scalable APIs and integrations with major marketing platforms, improving system performance and reliability across distributed services, and evolving architecture to support growing product capabilities.
The tech stack includes Vue.js and TypeScript on the frontend; PHP/Laravel, Node.js, and Python on the backend; Docker and Kubernetes for infrastructure; MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB for databases; and Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, and Kibana for observability.
Required: 10+ years building and shipping high-quality software, 5+ years of technical leadership within engineering teams, strong experience designing scalable web applications and APIs, solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns, and experience leading large refactoring initiatives. You need strong JavaScript expertise with React or Vue.js, server-side language experience (PHP, Node.js, Golang, Python), knowledge of web architecture and distributed systems, experience with relational and document databases, strong testing practices, and proficiency with containerization and Git. Leadership skills include strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery, experience mentoring engineers, and comfort leading technical discussions.
