Snowflake is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to lead the Cortex AI team, which is building enterprise AI products for data understanding and interaction. In this role, you will own features end-to-end across Snowflake's Cortex product suite, including agentic workflows, natural language-to-SQL translation on semantic layers, and intelligent search capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the full AI engineering lifecycle: design, prompt and tool engineering, evaluation frameworks, deployment, measurement, and optimization
- Building enterprise-grade context engineering solutions including function calling, tool schemas, guardrails, and semantic model-aware prompting for SQL generation with verification and repair mechanisms
- Designing comprehensive evaluation strategies: creating golden datasets, developing rubrics and metrics, analyzing error patterns, and running experiments to optimize performance
- Partnering with product and infrastructure teams to translate customer problems into product features and experiments, collaborating on productionization of improvements
- Leading a team of engineers to build high-impact AI products
You'll work with a small, high-powered team focused on how businesses understand and leverage their data through AI. The role requires deep expertise in shipping production AI features at scale, with 8+ years of relevant experience. Strong proficiency in Python and Go is essential, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience with text-to-SQL, data modeling, semantic layers, and retrieval systems is a plus.
