Salary: USD 230,000 - 300,000 / annual
Charta Health is building an AI-powered operating system for modern healthcare organizations, streamlining workflows across revenue cycle, clinical operations, and administrative functions. As Tech Lead Manager, you will lead a pod of up to five engineers in a player-coach role that balances hands-on technical work with people management and organizational leadership. You'll own both the technical output of your team and their professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set objectives and priorities for your engineering pod, maintaining focus amid roadmap shifts
- Own problem analysis, solution design, and architecture decisions for your team's domain
- Write and review production code, establishing quality and documentation standards
- Manage, coach, and develop engineers, providing performance feedback and supporting career growth
- Partner with product, design, and client-facing teams to translate customer problems into scoped technical work
- Participate in hiring and help elevate engineering quality across the organization
- Spend meaningful time writing code, reviewing designs, and debugging production systems alongside your team
You'll work in a multidisciplinary environment where results matter more than methods, and where staying close to the code is expected and valued.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or Master's) in Computer Science or related field
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience shipping production code
- At least 1 year of direct people management or formal tech lead experience with a track record of growing engineers
- Fluency in one or more backend languages: Python, Node.js, Java, or C/C++
- Experience building, testing, and deploying microservices
- Distributed systems development experience (performance optimization a plus)
- Strong communication skills across engineering, product, and other functions
- Commitment to staying hands-on and writing code (this role is not a path away from coding)
Preferred:
- Next.js and/or React experience
- Interest or experience with modern generative AI technologies, including LLMs
- Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, and ECS/Kubernetes
