Beacon Software acquires vertical software businesses and dramatically increases their value by embedding world-class engineering and AI leadership. This Tech Lead role owns ToolHound, a mature, profitable tool-and-asset-management platform serving industrial, construction, energy, and manufacturing customers. You will be the technical leader responsible for reimagining ToolHound as an AI-native platform while maintaining its core profitability and customer base.
You will own the complete technical and product roadmap in partnership with the General Manager and customers, translating business priorities (retention, expansion, new verticals, operational leverage) into a sequenced engineering plan. You drive all technical decisions across architecture, code quality, security, data modeling, performance, and release engineering. A key mandate is shipping production AI—natural-language assistants, foundation model integration, evals, guardrails, and tenant-safe tool use—not demos.
You will lead and mentor the current engineering team, establishing best practices and raising their ceiling. You'll increase velocity and harden the codebase by modernizing the stack, tightening the SQL and data layer, investing in test coverage and automation, and paying down technical risk. You'll be the technical face of ToolHound, earning trust from operators and customers through clear written and verbal communication.
Required: Deep, current .NET expertise (C#, ASP.NET Core through .NET 8–10) with the ability to own and reshape a large, mature codebase immediately. You're a genuine generalist (T-shaped) who picks up new languages, stacks, and clouds quickly—comfortable converging onto TypeScript/React, Go, Python, and AWS over time. You have hands-on cloud and SQL depth, including design, deployment, and operation of production systems. Mobile fluency with .NET MAUI (or Xamarin/native) is essential, including scanning, camera, and offline sync. You've shipped production software on foundation models (LLM tool use, retrieval, evals, guardrails), not just prototypes. You've led engineers in small, high-ownership teams where the leader still ships code. You have product and business instinct, can read what drives the business, and can defend a roadmap to leadership and customers. You're a strong writer and communicator who builds trust with non-engineers.
Nice to have: Experience with TypeScript/React, Go, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, modern CI/CD, Postgres, and product-analytics tooling. Vertical/B2B or industrial SaaS experience (asset management, inventory, field service, logistics, construction tech). RFID/IoT/hardware-integrated systems. DevExpress reporting, multi-tenant SaaS architecture, or licensing systems. Experience modernizing or re-platforming legacy .NET codebases without disruptive rewrites.
