As Tech Lead for Application Infrastructure, you will own the technical direction, architecture, and evolution of core platform components powering Payoneer's financial services at global scale. You'll work on highly available, distributed systems serving millions of customers across 190+ markets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for backend systems, ensuring scalability, performance, security, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Lead by example in hands-on development, own critical code paths, and set code quality standards
- Own technical design decisions, lead design reviews, author ADRs/RFCs, and design data models across SQL and NoSQL stores with attention to schema evolution and query patterns at scale
- Partner across Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, and DevOps to define APIs, contracts, and shared platform capabilities
- Own backend reliability and performance outcomes, define SLOs, lead incident response, and drive improvements in latency, error-budget burn, and infrastructure cost
- Champion security-first and compliance-aware engineering, including PCI DSS, PII handling, multi-tenant isolation, and secrets management
- Set organizational standards for AI-assisted development, including context engineering, prompt patterns, code review protocols, and safe-use boundaries
- Own and evolve internal AI tooling playbook (Cursor IDE, Claude Code, Codex CLI) with adoption recommendations grounded in measured trade-offs
- Measure impact of AI-augmented engineering with evidence-based adoption decisions
- Raise engineering bar across the team through hiring, calibration, and process improvements in CI/CD, testing, and developer experience
You bring 10+ years of professional backend software development experience with deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and high-scale infrastructure.
