Payoneer, a global fintech platform founded in 2005, is building a brand-new Modernization team to tackle the deepest architectural challenges across its platform. This is not a feature team—instead, it operates as a platform-level force multiplier, taking on strategic, cross-cutting problems that individual product teams cannot own alone.
As Team Lead, you will lead the full cycle from discovery and design through building, validating, and deploying solutions that unblock critical initiatives across the organization. You'll set technical direction that other teams confidently adopt, working on problems too impactful to leave unresolved. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape how the team works, what it prioritizes, and the engineering culture you create together.
You are a seasoned, hands-on engineering leader with proven ability to create clarity, drive momentum, and take ownership in fast-moving, complex environments. You excel at breaking down ambiguous problems, aligning stakeholders, and moving initiatives from concept to execution with urgency. You bring deep cloud and architectural expertise, balancing strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery—knowing when to design scalable long-term patterns and when to deliver targeted tactical solutions.
You thrive in cross-team environments, earning trust, influencing without authority, and collaborating closely with product, architecture, security, and infrastructure groups to ensure alignment and sustained impact.
Required experience: 4+ years as a team lead; 6+ years backend development (C#, Node.js); 6+ years advanced SQL (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL); 4+ years NoSQL (MongoDB); SaaS platform building on AWS; containers and Kubernetes (EKS); event-driven architecture; message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS); microservices development; AI tools for team velocity and quality; B.S. in computer science or equivalent.
