Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Customer Data Platform team owns the mechanics of how data reaches customers—file generation, transfer, reporting frameworks, dashboards, and backend systems. This includes critical systems like the Reconciliation Experience, where merchants inspect, manage, and reconcile financial data with precision. As Engineering Manager for the Customer Data Platform, you will lead a cross-functional engineering team operating at the intersection of innovation and scale. The team functions as an experimental hub researching emerging technologies while building high-standard, scalable, sustainable platforms supporting global enterprise merchants. Key responsibilities include: **People & Team Leadership**: Mentor and coach engineering talent through extensive people management, hiring, talent development, and conflict resolution. You'll own headcount planning and foster a high-performing culture. **Innovation & Scalability**: Lead an experimental, forward-thinking team while ensuring solutions are robust, elegant, simple, and scalable for millions of merchant interactions globally. **Architectural Guidance**: Set architectural standards for merchant-facing UI and configuration platforms. Drive research into modern technologies, benchmarking tools, and engineering best practices. **Merchant Experience**: Partner with Product and Design to deliver high-impact features (e.g., financial reconciliation interfaces) that minimize friction and elevate merchant trust. **Technical Excellence**: Raise standards for software creation, reliability, testing, and production monitoring. Lead cross-team discussions, manage technical debt, and ensure accurate estimates on complex projects. **Stakeholder Alignment**: Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, actionable outcomes for technical and non-technical stakeholders. You bring 5+ years of engineering team management experience with a track record in people management, mentorship, and conflict resolution. You have 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in modern backend/frontend frameworks, UI platforms, or customer-facing products, with deep understanding of scalable design patterns and system architecture. You balance experimentation with pragmatism, excel at breaking down ambiguous product needs into clear engineering roadmaps, maintain high engineering standards, and think deeply about customer journeys and business objectives.
