Brodie League is a fast-growing North American recreational basketball brand operating 30+ locations with 50,000 athletes. The company is scaling rapidly across new markets and seasons, and this Talent Acquisition Specialist role is central to building the recruiting infrastructure that supports that growth.
You will own full-cycle recruiting across Brodie's entire hiring spectrum: high-volume operational roles (Scorekeepers, Athlete Experience Specialists, League Managers, City Launchers) and specialized corporate and engineering positions. This is a builder role that requires comfort pivoting between high-volume hourly hiring and technical searches week to week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute full-cycle recruiting (sourcing, screening, scheduling, closing) across operational and corporate/engineering functions, managing the hiring funnel end-to-end.
- Build and maintain warm, active talent pipelines through proactive sourcing: AI-driven Boolean and X-ray searches, LinkedIn, Instagram, community channels, referrals, events, and league nights. Target: 5,000 warm operational candidates across current and future markets.
- Design, build, and optimize Ashby workflows: interview plans, scorecards, automations, candidate communications, and reporting dashboards to ensure repeatability and measurability.
- Develop strong relationships with hiring leaders and stakeholders, holding constructive tension to drive quality outcomes within a structured hiring environment.
- Leverage AI tools (Ashby's native features, Claude, and others) as a force multiplier for sourcing, outreach drafting, screening prep, scheduling, interview summaries, and funnel reporting—while applying human judgment to every output and never delegating selection decisions to models.
- Run structured screens, align hiring managers on role briefs, and move candidates through the funnel with clear, timely communication that protects candidate experience and NPS.
- Document processes, playbooks, and candidate personas (role cards) informed by real hiring outcomes, enabling best practices to scale across markets and role types.
- Maintain strong data hygiene: track and report on funnel health (time-to-fill, source effectiveness, stage pass-through rates, offer acceptance) and use data to advise hiring leaders on process improvements.
- Partner with the People team on hiring approvals, offer logistics, and onboarding handoffs.
- Evaluate and analyze recruitment processes, identify improvement areas, and implement best practices that improve candidate quality.
- Stay current on industry trends, recruitment best practices, and market conditions; share knowledge with the team.
- Collect and document data at every hiring stage to ensure smooth pre-onboarding and onboarding experiences.
- Manage new hire files from offer through first day of onboarding and contribute to onboarding procedure improvements.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of full-cycle recruiting with hands-on experience in both high-volume operational/hourly hiring and corporate/technical (engineering) searches; comfort switching between the two.
- Demonstrated sourcing strength: you build pipelines proactively using Boolean and X-ray search, outreach sequencing, and community channels to fill hard-to-fill roles.
- Builder-level fluency with a modern Applicant Tracking System (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, or similar): you have configured workflows, automations, scorecards, and reports, not just worked inside them.
- Practical, everyday use of AI in recruiting (drafting, sourcing, summarizing, analysis) paired with a clear point of view on where human judgment must remain in the loop, and understanding of AI disclosure and compliance requirements in hiring.
- A builder's growth mindset: no ego about the work, comfortable in the trenches, and equally comfortable setting and holding boundaries around time, workload, and wellbeing to maintain sustainable pace.
- 5 days in office at Toronto HQ (Brodie's culture thrives on in-office collaboration and teamwork).
- Experience in sports, events, hospitality, or another multi-location consumer business is a plus.
